Questions
Is Janus free?
Yes. Every feature on this page is free, and the verification page never shows ads.
What does a member have to do?
Click a link (or a button), then click "Verify me". Most people are done in about three seconds.
Does Janus store IP addresses?
No. IPs are turned into a keyed one-way hash the moment they arrive. Janus can tell that two accounts used the same network, but it can't turn the hash back into an IP.
Does Janus use Google reCAPTCHA or Cloudflare?
No. The Janus Gate puzzle and the VPN check run entirely on Janus's own server. Your IP is never sent to another company.
What if someone is flagged by mistake?
They can send an appeal right from the verification page. Your staff get it in the log channel with Accept and Deny buttons, and accepted members are allowlisted.
Which permissions does Janus need?
Manage Roles (to give the verified role), Kick and Ban Members (for auto actions), and the basics to post logs. Put the Janus role above the roles it gives out.
Can I keep detection local to my server?
Yes, that's the default. Joining the Janus Network is optional and only ever shows "flagged elsewhere", never which server.
